Finishing -
Special Finishes

There are many ways to make your printed material stand out from the crowd, even after the ink has dried. There are many special finishes that can be applied to your job to give it an air of finesse, luxury, and even decadence:

Embossing
This is where a specified area of the material is raised out from the sheet (or sometimes sunken into it) to add emphasis to a logo or picture.

Block Foiling
This is where an area is 'foiled' with metallic leaf, to give a gold or silver effect on a specified area.

Spot UV
Using ultraviolet exposure, and area can be made 'glossy', so that when caught in the light a subtle but elegant difference can be seen.

Lamination
This is a micro-thin polymer-based covering for your printed page, and can either be a gloss or matt finish. Very stylish effects can be achieved by combining a matt lamination with Spot UV (see above).

Machine coatings and varnishes
There are different finishes that can actually be applied while the job is on the press; most of our presses have coating units, and all of our most recent machines have a fifth unit that can be utilised for a spot machine varnish.
