The
ability to produce printed sheets up to B1 (1020 x 720 mm) has long been one
of John Dollin Printing's fortés. Not only can we reduce the number of passes
on large print runs by imposing more sheets to the printed page, but we can
also open up the opportunities for point-of-sale: posters, hanging boards,
packaging items and exhibition sheets. Everything printed over B2 is printed on our Heidelberg Speedmaster FP 102, a five-colour press with coater unit and CPC104 control console. This press, like our two Speedmaster 74s and our Speedmaster SM52, uses CIP3 ink profiles generated digitally by our repro department so that colour accuracy can be faithfully maintained. The 102 can perfect three-back-two for those long run jobs, but it really comes into its own when producing those jobs that are just too big for the other presses. We have printed the point-of-sale material for Unwins off-licences, and their promotion packs often contain two or three 1000 x 700mm posters, ceiling-hung header boards and several large special offer boards. The 74 presses = 2/2 or 2/3
